HEBA ZAGOUT
Palestinian painter · Teacher · Mother
1984–2023
Born in Gaza’s Al-Bureij refugee camp, Heba Zagout devoted her art to the places, people, memory and everyday life of Palestine. Her paintings carried homes, landscapes, Jerusalem, women, children and the colours of a homeland.
On 13 October 2023, Heba and her two sons, Adam and Mahmoud, were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on their home in Gaza. Most of her paintings were destroyed in the same attack.
At At Doa’s, we invite you to encounter Heba’s work, honour her memory, and give her paintings a place to be seen, remembered and carried forward.
This exhibition is presented in collaboration with Heba’s family.
Prints of her works are available, with proceeds supporting her surviving family.
Her paintings remain.
Her memory remains with us.
