a student liberation kamp [ aks ] was formed in May 2022, following a student movement that started in March 2022, by a self-organized student group from Münster that stood against rent increase in student dormitories. The students have been directly experiencing and witnessing authoritarianism and oppression in Germany's education system which greatly affected the environment of the student body. During the post-pandemic and high economic inflation period it affected them even worse.
Controlling education system by imposing bureaucratic measures creates social inequality, discrimination, and injustice between students and general society. As a result, a culture of fear rapidly grows among students. Furthermore, and perhaps more troubling, students become used to this oppression.
[ aks ] is aiming to address this issue by countering the government's controlling interference in the education system. The government should provide services and facilities to help students flourish; not create barriers so that they drop out of the education system out of fear and frustration.
[ aks ] strongly believes that education is not a privilege, nor is it reserved exclusively for the privileged social classes. It’s a basic human right for every economic and demographic social class, including immigrants and refugees. Education was an equalizer throughout history, and should remain as such. All students should be guaranteed the same services, regardless of being ‘native’ or ‘European’ or ‘international’. Race and color should never be a factor in education. Categorisation and ranking in the education system based on evaluation proccess promotes discrimination as well -- aks stands against all sort of discrimination. The systemic deficiencies of the German education system - from the junior school system to higher education - necessitated this stand for reform and resistance.
