Die Band entstand 2020/21 aus dem stadtpolitischen Community-Projekt Lauratibor in Berlin, das mit musikalischen Mitteln für mehr soziale Gerechtigkeit kämpft. Heute besteht sie aus etwa zehn internationalen Musiker*innen. Das Besondere an der Band ist, dass alle ihre eigenen brennenden Themen einbringen, sodass das Programm zu einem Kaleidoskop aktueller politischer Kämpfe und Utopien wird.
Jedes Konzert ist eine Reise von Berlin nach Teheran, Istanbul, Sibirien bis an die Außengrenzen der USA. Unsere Musik verbindet Widerstandskämpfe weltweit, auch zum Mitsingen und Tanzen.
Außerdem zeigt das Orchester einen Film über die Arbeit der letzten Jahre, zu der zum Beispiel die große "Protestoper" gegen den Ausverkauf der Stadt gehört.

The PROFIT ORCHESTRA emerged in 2020–21 from the community project Lauratibor in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighborhood. Today, the band consists of 10–15 international musicians. Each member contributes their own themes, so that the program has evolved into a kaleidoscope of current political struggles and utopian visions. Concern for friends and relatives in Tehran, the fight against the displacement of a beloved bar in Berlin, fear of rising poverty, anger over repression against anti-fascists, and much more make up the intense mix of issues that shape our lives and often leave us feeling desperate. In our music, we bring this wild collection of emotions together and express it. It’s not just us, all over the world, people find strength in music to keep fighting.
